New Sitcom Involving Radio Debuts On CBS & Global Monday

I haven't seen the show called "Poppa's House," which stars Damon Wayans Sr. and Jr., but it debuts Monday night on CBS and Global. It's one of the rare TV shows (along with the former Frasier) that takes place at least partly in a radio station, where Sr. (the "Poppa" of the title) works.

I doubt radio takes centre stage in this thing - it's more about the relationship at home between father and son - but it's noteworthy that at least this so-called "dying" industry makes its presence felt in a TV sitcom. (Eventually, the dad starts his own podcast, so the radio angle may be short lived.)

Reviews have not been great, but if you're curious, the show's first episode airs at 8:30 PM.

Yep. Another witless CBS time waster masquerading as a comedy. Outside of "Ghosts," which is based on a British show and is quite original, CBS has not had a decent comedy on its network since Murphy Brown.

Their shows all seem the same - insult, insult, insult, sex joke, insult.

I can't deny that their shows are hits, but they never make me laugh and this one is almost the worst of them all.

I only got through 15 minutes before giving up, something I almost never do. Although many reviews suggest this gets better by episode 4, this "House" is not one I want to go back to.

Well, shows what I know. Somebody likes this thing. It's just been renewed for a second season.

Re: New Sitcom Involving Radio Debuts On CBS & Global Monday

It seems the black-oriented sitcom consisting of simplistic low brow humor never goes out of style.
Ironically the one guy who tried to elevate black comedy TV shows was Bill Cosby.
Then look out how disappointing a person he turned out to be.
Other than that there have been so many comedies centered around black characters that seem to have been written by what white people think black people act like
The refreshing differences included the Wayans family with "In Living Colour" and "Fresh Prince of Belair."
