Rogers wants to remove many Corus channels for good

This might not happen but I heard over on the Digital Home fourm that someone posted a thread about Rogers removing the Corus channels from their channel lineups that might include Global which is owned by Corus as well. Since Rogers got the rights to the Warner Bros Discovery brands this past summer do you think the CRTC will accept Rogers' request to remove the Corus channels from their service?

Re: Rogers wants to remove many Corus channels for good

They'd only try to yank the ones they've acquired the branding and programming rights for. Very unlikely to be approved.

They'll never remove Global.

That's exactly what I was thinking also. It's a specialty thing, not an OTA issue.

Re: Rogers wants to remove many Corus channels for good

According to the post on Digital Home there was no mention of the W Network or the Disney branded channels being affected by the dropout by Rogers they are staying. But Global is staying on Rogers as mandated by CRTC to carry that channel on all TV providers.
On the other hand Rogers plans to keep Showcase, Lifetime, ABC Spark, Cartoon Network, Boomerang, CMT, National Geographic, Crime and Investigation and Nickelodeon.

Rogers wants to remove many Corus channels for good

Now I can confirm from Digital Home thread that the 12 Corus channels that Rogers could drop by the end of this year include: DTOUR, DejaView, H2 MovieTime, Nat Geo Wild, Treehouse, YTV, Cooking Channel, Food Network Canada, HGTV Canada, Magnolia Network and Slice.

Again, trust Rogers to kick a company when it’s down. They are seriously a sketch organization.

Are they actually dropping those channels? Or merging some (or all) in that list into the Stack TV channel options?
(currently Channels 940-958 on the Rogers ignite Xfinity box.)

I watch DTOUR, they air a lot of Border Security. My mom used to watch MovieTime lots. But she doesn’t anymore. She watches FX which airs a lot of the Law and Order and Chicago Franchise.

Re: Rogers wants to remove many Corus channels for good

We have Shaw satellite, which is now owned by Rogers I don't watch much TV, but my wife does. I wonder if Rogers will also be dropping those channels from the satellite service too.

Re: Rogers wants to remove many Corus channels for good

My wife watches Cooking Channel & Food Network Canada and we both watch HGTV, so if Rogers dumps them we won't be happy. I understand they are planning their own "Food" channel and "Home & Garden" channel with some, but not all, of the programs being carried on the proposed to be cancelled channels. This after increasing our monthly tv charge by $7 - yes, we are one of them. However, we are month to month so I suppose we can leave anytime.

I ask again, is Rogers also going to drop the Stack TV channels? (Channels 940-958)
If not, then maybe paying for Stack TV will be the way to go to get some or all of the channels Rogers drops.
(if they actually drop any Corus channels...)
