Cooking Channel/Magnolia Network Canada shutting down on Dec. 31, 2024
Over on the Digital Home fourm. It appears that the Cooking Channel and Magnolia Network are shutting down on Dec 31. Just like OWN network that shut down on September 1st. It appears that Corus Entertainment could not find alternate imported content for it's networks. Programming might be folded into the new Flavor Network or Home Network during the shutdown. Rogers did state that Magnolia will be relaunched on the next day.

Also in that thread someone said that BET will be shutting down their Canadian feed on that day as well.

Does this mean shrinkflation has come to cable tv? I lose several channels from my package, but my monthly bill likely will remain the same. Granted none are channels I have ever watched. I have recently noticed that Kraft Dinner has shrunk from 225g to 200g, Tropicana Orange Juice from 1.63L to 1.36L. And Chinet paper plates are now almost as bendable as their cheaper competitors.

This might be shocking I posted a thread relating to Rogers requesting the CRTC to remove the Corus channels from their service.

Tropicana Orange Juice was once 1.75 L (and can still be bought as 1.89 L if you buy 4 at a time @ Costco)
Then it shrank to 1.54L, and now it is 1.36 L. Their 2.63 L size is still available.
Back to cable, I agree we are paying the same (or more) and getting less. Nasa channel isn't even on cable anymore.

Nasa channel isn't even on cable anymore.
Much as I hate to let the cable crooks off the hook, this isn't their fault.
NASA dropped its broadcast channel in the summer and is now available via streaming only.
You might say it's been Lost in (cyber)Space.
NASA is all in on streaming, ditching the NASA TV broadcast
