Someone on Big Yella snitched to Global that some of us here don't have a clue how complex weather patterns operate. I mean REALLY operate. This forecaster is totally acing his game, showing us weatherplebes how complex weather patterns work. Cold air from the east, mixed with heavy snow; warmer air aloft coming in from the west with mixed precipitation. Obviously dark skies, tight-fitting where the twain meet, arcing down from Renfrew/Ottawa and forming two troughs east of Buffalo. Don't know how all of this could be more obvious.

I think it's because City TV used to be the main source of going way off the wall. 
Now we see it with Global and it comes as a bit of a shock that standard suit and tie weather reporting isn't what's being shown. 
I think what's going on though, is that the weather person is trying to show that he's a centre scale person, not a Democrat or Republican. (with an American election coming up...)

Please don't bring partisan politics into this. Just stop. There was no need to bring that into discussion of what a frickin' CANADIAN weather reporter was wearing on-camera.

I saw the guy tonight on the 11:00 PM news. I wouldn't call it improper, just bizarre. Maybe it's what the Wardrobe Department gave him to put on.

If he is East Indian, it a big celebration time in that culture. This may be a choice of the young man to reflect that. If not, I admire his moxy. I thank Global for including northern Ontario in the weather coverage.

I believe he may, indeed, be of Indian origin.

I cannot believe that an otherwise obscure weatherman on a Canadian TV station would wear something to try and subtly comment on a U.S. election. It makes no sense.

I think that he was dressed up for Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, which was Friday, but the celebrations can often linger a bit. You may have heard or seen fireworks the last few evenings, all part of Diwali.

Pretty sure wardrobe departments are a relic of the past.

Global News pulled this stunt earlier this year:

All anchors wore the exact same outfit for a week straight. No complaints were levied against the men wearing the same suit, meanwhile Global received loads of comments from the public regarding the women repeating the same outfit.

"Chesterfield" is most definitely uniquely Canadian but I find its usage to be waning, replaced by "couch".

Yeah it was a pretty dumb segment, but probably right for its target audience - a video simplification of print news those who were unwilling or unable to read.
