The local Toronto cable station has a new broadcast partner - PIA, Toronto's main airport. CP24's morning Breakfast show will now have live updates on flight and crowd information directly from its Operational Centre there.
The idea is to provide travellers information on delays, departures and other vital facts someone heading out to catch a plane or pick up a passenger might need to know.
Why YYZ? According to Broadcast Dialogue:
"CP24 will broadcast real-time updates from Toronto Pearson every morning during its weekday morning program CP24 Breakfast, featuring key airport personnel discussing factors impacting travel, including weather conditions and operational events."
Kind of like a traffic update, only from a terminal. Call it an update of the old CFYZ at 1280 AM, which lasted only two short years before trying an ill-fated business format that also crashed.
If it flies (you should pardon the expression) I wonder if other stations will attempt the same thing.

Morning coverage on CP24 is really needed when I can check the specific flight I need to know, when I need to know, in seconds, online. CFYZ Fyzzled. So will/should this.

Didn’t CP24 used to cover GO Transit updates back then? From what I could remember they used to cover GO trains abd GO buses. Does anyone remember when they stopped doing GO Transit updates?
