The developer who purchased the former CHCH TV transmitter site property in Stoney Creek is in the initial stages of performing required preliminary archaeological assessment on the property.
Today the archaeological team was working to the north side of the property along Ridgeview Rd. at First Road W.
The is the area that is near Glover's Falls.
The first photo shows the outer concrete ground anchor (left of frame) which secured the upper guys line from the tower. The team is working to the right of frame.
The second photo shows the secondary site which will be studied next. The work area is flagged with orange markers. The inner concrete ground anchor (left of frame) secured the lower guy lines from the tower.

Just curious. Has reception improved or worsened from the new CHCH tower for OTA viewers in the Golden Horseshoe?

It's just one data point, but when I was at the Mississauga Hilton a couple of weekends ago, I plopped an antenna by the window on the 6th floor to see what would come in.
CHCH and Yes TV from the new tower in Dundas locked in immediately, with stronger signals than some of the CN Tower signals (especially CFTO, and yes, I had an antenna that included VHF elements).
I was also getting most of Buffalo adequately, for whatever that's worth.

That old tower was a landmark for me as I would shuttle my late wife to Henderson Hospital (OCF) for appointments, treatments, and radiation. Also a pollution indicator, as I would crest the Garden City Skyway westbound, if I could see the strobe beacons I knew the pollution wasn't too bad that day.
