680 News weather

At 5:11 pm today, 680 told me that it was 24C and sunny with no chance of active weather today.  At the exact same time, I received an alert from my Instant Weather app of "severe thunderstorm potential".  A check of the radar showed major "active weather" from Brantford to Brampton and moving into Toronto.  Right now, there is very heavy rain in Etobicoke which was proceeded by lots of thunder and lightning.

I just listened now and they said it will be a little cloudy this evening but again, no rain.  I guess 680's weather coverage is no longer 24/7?

Re: 680 News weather

South-west Ontario was warm and sunny all day today. It's about 8:30 PM now and I just came in from sitting on our patio.

After all is said and done, more is usually said than done.

Re: 680 News weather

How about CNN?  Last night wall to wall to wall coverage of Helene and everything that could happen with this massive storm.  This morning when I tune in, mostly about the mayor of NY, Donald Trump meeting with the PM of Ukraine, and mid east conflict.  They mentioned that in the north of Florida people were getting ready for the storm...huh?

I imagine once a hurricane is downgraded to a tropical depression, it is no longer newsworthy. No more films of ten foot storm surges destroying property or seeing a roof ripped from buildings. Simply days of rain with gusty winds. Time to move on.

I understand that but when I tuned in earlier this morning they mentioned little about the storm.  What about any damage overnight, power outtage?  Even though it is downgraded doesn't mean that the flooding stops or will get worse.  Just seemed odd because there was nothing new about the charges against the NY mayor and this seemed more important than the storm that was 100% coverage last evening.  Maybe I just tuned in at the wrong time.

Re: 680 News weather

I watched some of the U.S. Weather Channel this morning and they in full storm aftermath mode. Mostly dealing with rainfall totals, road closures, flooding issues and power outage updates.
