A Great CBC Radio "Shouldn't Have Happened" Story
Allan Bonner, who once hosted both "Metro Morning" and "Radio Noon" in the old days, recalls an absolutely great story about a guest who once appeared on a CBC show who really wasn't supposed to be there. I doubt this could ever happen today, given the security and the building the station is currently in.
But it did back in the early days and it sounds like this might have taken place when the Corp. was located on Jarvis St. It's a tale that could only have happened in radio. And it's pretty hilarious.

Great story. The studios on Parliament Street were actually in the heart of Cabbagetown, which was a few blocks from the mothership on Jarvis. The neighbourhood had a lot of colourful characters in its day. As a young Rye High student, I occasionally went in there to see tapings of the Royal Canadian Air Farce, which was recorded there for many years.
The story brings to mind what happened to Guy Goma, a computer technician who was at the BBC in London for a job interview and got mistakenly dragged to the newsroom and put on the air for an interview of a much different sort.

You'd think something like that couldn't happen more recently - yet the exact same thing happened to BBC News about 20 years ago when an unemployed computer technician visiting the BBC for a job interview was mistaken for an internet expert waiting for an on-air interview and was brought into studio to talk about a legal case involving Apple.
