It's not entirely clear what will be in the three hour special, but it will be hosted by three of the station's most prominent anchors. You can listen online, but you'll need a VPN set to the U.S. to hear it.
You might also want to be listening at 12:01 AM Monday, when CBS-AM fades into history for the last time and transitions into an ESPN affiliate.
WCBS/880 AM to celebrate its legacy with three-hour special

This is about to start airing as I post this. Still, I can't help but wonder - they're not changing format until midnight Monday.
Why are they airing this special at 10 AM on a Thursday morning? Wouldn't Sunday make more sense?

I just tried to listen to WCBS for their tribute this morning. I found it to be blocked even with my VPN set for the U.S. I tried on my laptop and phone. Blocked on both.

I'm on Nord VPN and it's working fine. Are you able to try choosing a "second location" on your network? Sometimes a different city works, especially NYC.

I have Nord as well. I set it for NYC. Still blocked. I would have only been able to hear the first 90 minutes before going to work.

Only other suggestion is try another site for the audio. There are many that provide WCBS on air. That might work. They also announced it will be repeated on the weekend, so you might be able to hear it then. And they say it could be posted to their website eventually.
The weird thing about this special is it's all about these veteran news people fooling around on air, replaying bloopers and memories of their famous moments together. There is no news at all, but they're still stopping for weather and traffic.

I think my best shot is if the tribute is posted online. I am sure someone who appreciates radio history will do that.

I just heard SOWNY member Chris Mavridis reporting on the Canadian rail strike from right here in Toronto during the top of the hour CBS newscast. Nice that he got on the final few days of Newsradio 88. Sorry it had to be about that!
He's a really decent guy and I'm glad to see he's achieved such heights.

Proton VPN with the Audacy app works.

I couldn't get the entire three hours - which consisted of employees past and present saying a fond farewell to the old gal at 880 and playing some memorable moments and bloopers. But here's the last minute of the great goodbye, which led into - what would you expect? - the top of the hour CBS News.
Hear it here.

WCBS - the N.Y. TV station - covered the final big party for WCBS-AM, the soon-to-be-gone all-news N.Y. radio station, posting a video of voices both past and present.

Thanks. I was looking for this, and I'm probably not the only one.

Thanks BB. I knew someone would eventually post it.
