Format is 70s & 80s Classic Hits.
No audio on the stream, yet. AM signal still playing Bloomberg.

Boy oh boy.. this will crash and burn faster than Quibi.....

Hey, it's not like the market has an 80s-heavy FM station with a popular, heritage morning sh....oh.

So Hamilton radio loses the news, but gains Huey Lewis! Wonder if this would prompt 102-9 to go back to A/C

There's audio on the stream now. The AM dial appears to still be bloomberg.

What's happening with 820 CHAM?

They should just relay The Grand 92.9 on 1150. They've already got a great format going!

I now wonder if 580 CKWW and 1150 CKOC are just going to use the same music playlist. When you click advertise on either stations website they both say that they are targeting the 40-70-year old age group.

Also, the morning co-host on 580 is also the midday host on 1150

I know it's new, but the audio stream is struggling. I've heard 10 seconds snips of songs, followed by silence.

I was wondering when Mr. Ray's company would finally get around to programming his new toys. I was thinking maybe Labour Day (or perhaps the day after on Sept. 3rd) for a debut? It's kind of the day summer unofficially ends and a new season begins. What better time to launch two radio stations on a new path?
If not then, when?

Hopefully he doesn't take as long as 1220 CFAJ took to finally make it on the air.

CKWW has their morning show kicking off tomorrow. This will be the first real morning programming on 580 for a while. As far as the rest of the day, I have no idea. On Saturday it sounded like it was the last day for Roger Ashby's show. Roger thanked the audience and mentioned with the sale of CKWW his program would no longer be on the station.
CKWW is using the Made In Windsor tag line in their logo which is interesting. Both CKWW and CKOC could be looking for Labour Day or that weekend as the official kick off. CKOC in particular sounds like they are in test mode ever since last night when they flipped to music.
CHAM could be a little later since Neeti might be thinking of tweaking the format with the sudden closure of CHML.

I'm not entirely questioning this, but I just tuned into 1150 and heard a Jerry Agar replay. So if they were testing music, they're not anymore, at least not on air. Hopefully, the change is coming soon. Although I will really, really miss Funny 820 when it goes back to the future.

Just heard the tail end of a newscast on the stream.

Been listening for the past hour and I kind of like the music mix and the stream sound is excellent quality. It won't sound that way on 1150, of course, but it's a good beginning. Whether this can work on AM at all is another question.

My bad....it wasn't a newscast, it was a topical VT break.

Right now I am getting nothing off air on 1150, but on line they are streaming music with some station promos.

I'm trying to listen online. At first I thought I was listening to scratched records, but it just sounds like a bunch of badly scratched CD's. Something crashed miserably as songs try so hard to play, only to skip, reskip and skip again...worse, they keep going from song to song as this keeps happening.

AM radio death throes.

I'm really surprised see all the reports of distortion or no audio on the site. Every time I've visited, it's played fine. How do you account for that?

Is it playing fine RIGHT NOW?

It is for me as I type this, although there does seem to be some dropouts and music restarting, which I didn't hear before this.

The voice on the station IDs sounds familiar. I think they may have used him in the past in their previous incarnations as a music station.
I've listened to the stream a few times during the weekend and I have to admit they're actually sounding pretty good. Personally, I wouldn't mind hearing the occasional late '60s tune, although that might happen with some slight tweaking of the format once they're up and running for good.
And yes I know, some people are going to say that this format on AM is not economically feasible and that the station is going to crash and burn (actually, some have said it already). But I've got to give Mr. Ray props for at least trying to resurrect a heritage station and bring back some of the sounds from its glory days, especially in the wake of another heritage Hamilton AM station going dark.
And who knows? It might actually work.

“Work” is completely relative to the owner’s goals.

Getting word that former Evanov talent Kent Chambers (formerly with Jewel 88.5 and Jewel 92) is set to do mornings on CKOC starting tomorrow morning. Seems fair to post this since he mentioned it on the Radio Station Lounge. All around good guy, and I hope he enjoys the opportunity.

It's been on the CKOC website all along. I think I remember hearing Kent on 1050 CHUM many years ago? Or was that the Pelmorex radio network, maybe?

Sounds like they fixed the glitches. Station sounds great!
