And if you don't believe something like that could happen in real life, I once worked with a woman who referred to NFL legend Johnny Unitas as Johnny OO-NEE-tas.  She did that on the air.  Needless to say many listener phone calls followed.



 

   As a former CP'er, I think that David Onley story is awful.  I recently texted CFRB when their newscaster announced the death of former AG and Chief Justice Roy McMurtee.  Maybe someone else there also heard it, because he got it right the next hour.

I got so fed up after hearing it the third time, that I tried to call CP. It was a weekend and there was a recording telling me to call back Monday. What kind of a fulltime news organization is closed on weekends? Sheesh!

 

I actually remember this, as it drove me nuts too! It must have aired 4-5 times at least. Worked with David as well, salt of the earth.

Sad news.  I always liked him.   Here's a neat story by Mark Mothersbaugh of Devo about Chi Chi being the model for the cover of their 1978 debut album "Are We Not Men?".      I heard Mark tell it on a podcast and Chi Chi was such a nice man.   He was also happy with the size of the cheque!   Devo shipped him a case of albums and he handed them out to all his friends without listening to it because "He was more of a Tito Puente fan."
