Go Rock- Newest Radio Station In Atlantic Canada Signs On Today

As AM stations close, FM stations open.  Dan Sys from RadioWest.ca has the latest on rocker Go Rock (CFLB) which started broadcasting today in beautiful Lunenburg/Bridgewater at 107.9. https://radiowest.ca/forum/viewtopic.php?p=12869522#p12869522

And it's interesting to see that part of the station's opening staff is someone who's been in Niagara-area radio for quite a while. Corey Mottley, who was doing wake-up duty on CJED(105.1 the River), draws PM drive.

The first official day was yesterday but they had been testing before that and for a short while they were streaming while not on air. Just to let people hear the format. I was listening to it yesterday. The hosts sound great too

So, is it really a new station, or is a station that has shifted from AM to FM?

That's good news in these times when radio stations all over the country are shutting down.

Owned by a long-time radio guy as a passion project. Great news and I hope he kills it.

Just listening to "Friday Night Loud" earlier, they sound pretty good, and the host sounds great. Lunenburg/Bridgewater NS has about 13,000 people and Lunenburg county around 48,000.  They are about 62 km east of Halifax.   https://www.gorock.ca/player/

More detail on the station and on air staff from Broadcast Dialogue. https://broadcastdialogue.com/lunenburg-welcomes-107-9-go-rock/

That would put them in the Atlantic Ocean.
As I look at the Nova Scotia map Lunenberg appears to be southwest of Halifax.
Good luck on what appears to e a great new rock station!!!

It is great to read of new radio stations launching these days, especially when they’re independently owned/operated. Having said that, I hope that Go Rock 107 changes their logo, it doesn’t exactly scream “Rock”, but I’m guessing it was just to get them up and running.

Congratulations to the whole team at Go Rock 107.9, I'm looking forward to tuning in over the rest of the summer.

(It'll be interesting to see if this new station inspires any changes at Q104.)

This is great. Radio run by smaller companies and independent operators are where it's at. The bigger players have completely lost interest in the art of the medium.

I've been listening for the last few minutes and they sound great.
