Former owner of AM 740/1250 CHWO Michael Caine has passed away in Oakville after a lengthy illness.
I received the info today in an email e-blast from his church, St. Jude’s Church Oakville. If you Google his name in a few days you can find out funeral plans.
Michael passed ownership of his current stations Joy 1250, CJMR 1320 plus the new stations he acquired (610
CKTB, CHRE 105.7, CHTZ 97.7) to his son Matt who has begun as CEO of Whiteoaks Communications.
May his soul Rest In Peace

Some clarification was needed.

The station was a family affair right from the beginning, with Howard Caine, a former CKFH exec., getting the licence back in 1956. A great piece of trivia: according to this article, CHWO was not the original call letters. The ones they were hoping to use would make a great call sign for an FM hits station today but are in use for a TVA-affiliated television station in Gatineau.

Oakville is considered a suburb of Toronto?
It's bad enough some people come off a plane in Pearson Airport thinking they can walk to the Eaton Centre from there. (True fact!)

The "WO" stood for White Oaks. Growing up in the town, and it is officially still a town despite a population of over 200,000, Oakville had a great deal of oak trees.

Pretty stupid irresponsible headline RIP Michael Caine.
C'mon what did you think people would think.
However condolences to the family and friends of the intended Michael Caine.
By the way, the actor Michael Caine got his name from changing Maurice to Michael, but his story goes that he was speaking to his agent in Leicester Square in London on a payphone when he saw the movie billboard for the Bogart movie, "The Caine Mutiny."
He said that the word "mutiny" was covered by some tree branches otherwise he might have taken the name "Michael Mutiny."

I've made an edit to the headline that should clear up any future confusion.
