Buffalo Radio Ratings Looking Very Familiar

Some have gone slightly up. Others have inched down a touch. But overall, the Buffalo radio ratings for May (the most current available and published on Friday) show it's pretty much the status quo.

See them here.

Re: Buffalo Radio Ratings Looking Very Familiar

I saw some June numbers from Radio-Online. Only stations to flip positions were WNED up and WECK down. Of the top 10ers, only 930, 104.1. 98.5 and 96.1 were down slightly. The rest were up marginally.

The stations in the Buffalo survey have 70.8% share.  Does that mean that around 27-28% is out of market listening?  I wonder how much of that is for Toronto/Hamilton and Southern Ontario?

Buffalo is a diary market, so yes, that 28% could include any out-of-market station, including from Canada.

I couldn’t spot WDCX (99.5FM).   Also, they need to change WTSS-FM into religious.

Stations that don't pay Nielsen aren't shown in the public numbers.

And these numbers are for the new WTSS on 96.1, not what's now WBKV on 102.5. WBKV may account for a few of those missing ratings points all by itself.

That is a very big "MAY", since EMF doesn't pay for ratings.

Aaron: The ONLY stations that show up with any regularity in the ratings are CFLZ(101.1 More FM)and CJED(105.1 the River)...and even then not in every book.

They do in some markets, In NYC they're a 2.0 and ahead of stations like Power 105 and WCBS

Right - they're the only ones that show up because they're the only ones that subscribed. Other stations still account for part of that 28%, we just can't see them.

Re: Buffalo Radio Ratings Looking Very Familiar

Doesn't WBKV rely mostly on donations to survive like WDCX? No need to subscribe to a ratings service. It would be interesting to see the numbers for those two stations. While neither will ever challenge WBLK, WYRK and WGRF, their numbers are superior to the always less than 1.0 WWKB. Pure guess. They are both in the 1.0-1.9 range, which would put them in the same group as 1400, 92.9 and 107.7.
