Buried In His Radio Work

I recently read an obit about a guy who worked in radio somewhere down in the U.S. It mentioned in the article that he'd specifically requested to be cremated and have his ashes scattered around the transmitter of the station where he used to be a DJ.

I'm not sure if that's even legal, but if it is, I'm don't think I'd want that when my time comes. What if they change format or worse, go silent and sell some of the land for condos?

Talk about dead air!

When I'm gone, I don't think I'll care...

Re: Buried In His Radio Work

If they scatter his ashes at the transmitter, I wonder whether the family will hold a "reception."

I'm sure the ashes will travel farther after the pattern change at sundown.

Re: Buried In His Radio Work

I prefer the cemetery myself. It's nice to be buried in a place where everyone is just DIE-ing to get there...

Re: Buried In His Radio Work

When I was at one radio station in Victoria our engineers were always at "the transmitter" when we needed them.
We figured there was some strip joint somewhere called "The Transmitter" so when we needed them they could always say, "Oh, I'll be at the Transmitter all day today."

Re: Buried In His Radio Work

I've heard tell that there is a service that will mix your ashes in with vinyl, permitting you to be pressed into records containing your last spiteful words. A decent concept.
