I would hope that's not how they really feel and are simply using this argument as a convenient excuse for the CRTC to explain away their unapproved flip in Calgary. 

They are 100% doomed without an FM flip, and probably doomed with one.

In the US, flipping all-news and sports stations to FM has been successful, but N/T not as much. The format did too little too late to fix the problem that the hosts and the programming didn't reflect the audience the stations wanted. Going to FM doesn't fix the core issue that the format itself isn't attracting new listeners regardless of the band.

The station is called Peggy?   Imagine Toronto Q107 changing to Peggy? 

CJOB also carries Winnipeg Jets and Blue Bombers games, so if Peggy is indeed becoming a simulcast of CJOB, this should be a good thing for those listeners.

I'm only finding the 2017 Blue Bombers release that shows that they're on CJOB until 2024.

They’re probably negotiating an extension or something. It’s not like the Bombers have anywhere else to go (other than in-house), CFRW/TSN Radio is long gone.

Corus Release: Hold Your Horses! Winnipeg Gets A New Country Music Station

It's the latest chapter in a story that never seems to end. After the CRTC went after Corus - which is already in enough trouble financially - for simulcasting their AM on FM, they've thrown in the towel and will now switch 107 Calgary back to music. But it may not be rock and roll. 

“The decision was made to revert back to a music format because we were not able to monetize QR on both AM and FM, the way we had hoped,” Cathy Paine said in an email. 

“We are committed to continuing to deliver the best news and talk content in Calgary on QR 770AM and are focused on finding new audiences across streaming and other platforms.” 

She wouldn’t say what type of music the station would be broadcasting, adding “we will be announcing a new music station on 107FM soon.”

Great, now Q107 will take on Harvard's market leading Modern/Alternative Rock X92. Anyone seen the CFNY / Indie movie? Bad enough with duplication and lack of diversity on Calgary's two Country FMs.

QR Calgary is running promos now telling listeners that the station will only be heard on 770 AM and 105.1 HD2 starting July 29.
