This definitely gets Roseanne off the hook for her terrible version of the Stars & Stripes.
I've heard the American anthem for years, but never, ever like this. (And when was the last time you heard an American sports crowd boo their own national song?) This was really something. (What, I don't know, but something!)
Listen to it here.

OUCH!! Now that's embarrassing!

And yet somehow she is a four time Grammy nominee. (Notable that she never won.)

That's more hurtin' than any country song.

It was less a case of "Oh say can you see" than "Oh say can you hear."

I think she doesn’t have natural pitch, so cannot sing in tune unless she’s accompanied by music/band. Pretty terrible and this should have been caught before such a sad performance.

Here's the singer's rather disturbing explanation for what happened:

It was obvious something was wrong beyond her voice. Drink has ruined a lot of lives; hope she gets the help she needs...

Gee, I wish I could have used that excuse and gotten a pass when I (rarely) f'd up at work.
"Sorry about getting that story wrong, I was drunk. I didn't mean to say the prime minister is a pedophile, I meant he likes bikes -- he's a peddle ophile."
"Anyway I'm going into rehab, I hear it's fun."

I've always found The Star Spangled Banner to be a tough listen musically. It kinda feels all over the place, note-wise.
Also - this is my absolute favourite rendition:

Meat Loaf did a typical rock n roll kick-ass job before the All Star game in 94.
Even though there was an unfortunate anthem performance as the reason for this topic , it's been a hoot checking out the other versions.
I also hope this young woman gets the support she needs and she should strongly consider changing her management team.
Found this, thought I'd share, it's Ingrid and her NPR Tiny Desk gig which is always a good test for any artist and their ability to perform live.

Turns out it's not just baseball that butchers the national anthem.
