Does anyone know what happened to both CP24 and CTV News at Noon on Tuesday?
For those who missed it, everything was fine from 12:00-12:30 PM, when they took a break after the weather. But when they came back, well, they never really did.
On CP24, which carries the CTV local noon show, you could hear the audio from the scheduled news reports and the anchors, but the picture was in permanent black.
On CFTO, they went to a commercial, came back with audio from a report with no picture and a black screen, then went to yet another spot. And another. And another. Clearly something was wrong, as they ran at least four minutes of ads, clearly not the plan.
By this time, they simply gave up and both stations wound up simulcasting CTV News Channel. At one o'clock, CFTO went to - yes, another Big Bang Theory rerun, while CP24 resumed its local news run.
Not sure what happened - a friend was speculating that perhaps they're installing equipment to house CP24 when it moves out of 299 Queen and up to Agincourt and something went very wrong. But who knows what really took place.
It's rare two channels are so badly affected at the exact same moment, but hopefully for them, they'll have it fixed by the Six.

Something similar happened last night with the CTV London, 11:00 PM news. It was unwatchable. In the middle of a story, the screen would go black for about 30 seconds. Then it would return in the middle of a story they had already run. This happened over and over. They showed the weather twice.
On one of the most important nights of the year, for hockey fans, they didn't run a sportscast. or even mention the game.

CHCH’s 6PM livestream had test patterns on it’s YouTube livestream tonight. But 30 minutes later it was fixed. So not just CP24 and CTV Toronto has this issue as well.
