It's time for the summer scheduling silliness and the latest instance involves AM 640 mid-morning host Alex Pierson. She's finished after Thursday's show until well after Canada Day.
Columnist/reporter Anthony Furey will be taking her place for the two weeks she's off.

Furey's good. He should have his own show. If 1010 had half a brain, they'd put him on 'The Resh', but they don't.

Are you still using the old Russian calendar? Canada Day is six workings days away by mine.

She said she wouldn't be back until sometime after Canada Day. It sounded to me like she had a few weeks planned and wouldn't return until sometime after the first week of July, which would be more than just seven days. But you could be right. She wasn't entirely specific, but indicated she had plans with her son, who will soon be out of school.
In any event, she will definitely not be back for at least 12 days, counting Friday and the weekends. That, to me, is closer to two weeks.
I guess we'll see exactly how long it lasts when she finally returns.

Why would you count days that a person doesn't normally work?

It's all part of her time off.

When I book vacation with my employer, my usual days off aren't counted against me. I'm away for ten working days, which generally does equate to fourteen days total.
I've never encountered anybody who thinks they way you've presented it.

I usually count the full number of days I'll be off. I've always done it that way. If nothing else, it makes my vacation seem longer!
I'm honestly not sure why it matters, but OK, she has a week off, give or take a few days.

I agree with Walter. Anthony Furey should have his own show and 1010 would be a good start. I don’t know why 1010 doesn’t have Anthony Furey fill in for John Moore when he is away.

It really probably doesn't.

For some reason, they seem to have an attachment to failed Mayor, failed husband, failed provincial conservative leader, lousy radio host John Tory. Why?

If there is an AM 640 to come back to after Canada Day.

Lol! This might be closer to the truth than one might expect.

Walter is being a little too political for this site.....right RA?

Yes, actually. While he has every right to feel that way, I do wish he'd lean less toward expressing that opinion here. Again, this is a radio board - not a political one.
That said, he does have a right to criticize an on air personality in the city, although I wish he'd base it more on his on-air performance than the man's past personal issues.

I withdraw my statements that contained political opinions. He's just a lousy radio host.

There is some truth to Walter's statements. He lost to David Miller in 2003. While leader of the Provincial Conservative Party, he was never elected Premier. As for a failed husband, we really don't know what goes on behind closed doors. As for his being a lousy radio host? That is just a personal opinion of which some will agree and others will not.

My habit of switching between stations sometimes pays off. On Friday, Tory was filled with praise about the now outgoing head of the TTC Rick Leery. He said the criticism aimed at him often wasn't fair and he showered him with praise.
Meanwhile, at the exact same second on AM640, Greg Brady was being openly critical of the same guy, wondering why so many people were gushing with compliments about the departing TTC boss and noting he didn't do a very good job.
It was a very bizarre juxtaposition between extremes. Neither could know what the other was talking about to the second. Yet inexplicably, this past week, it's been happening a lot between these two hosts.
