Station Pins

In case any of you collects ...

Just walked past what is a regular (permanent) weekend yard sale on the east side of Church just south of Charles St (north of Wellesley). One of perhaps 3 or 4 vendors has pins (metal lapel- or brooch-style) from a couple radio and TV stations. Including CKCK TV (Regina) and CKNX Wingham, also I think CHCH and CTV... In case anyone here collects. They might be there Sundays, and I see them pretty well every weekend.

My collecting days are long gone. I have a handful of old CFTR and CHUM buttons, and a lot of election buttons from Canada and US. Eventually I'll downsize...

Re: Station Pins

I have a CBC pin I acquired when they first opened up their radio transmitter at Owen Sound. I have a couple of buttons from Radio Havana.

After all is said and done, more is usually said than done.

Re: Station Pins

For the longest time I had a red CKGM (Montreal station) Taurus pin from the 70's. It was from the zodiac series they did.

With the younger generations as well as most of pop culture determined to recreate the 60's and 70's with music and fashion, pins as wearable art are making a comeback. Might be time for Toronto radio stations to create some pinterest* and buzz in the community and issue a limited collector's edition of their station logo or equally catchy design of their name. Donate the profits to the Daily Bread Food Bank or another charity.

*sorry, not sorry

They've been back for a while (or maybe never really went away) and are now usually pinned to a backpack or satchel.
