Last time they had a "MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT" all they did is go commercial free for part of their morning show. It will be interesting to see what they do this time...

Not sure if the sale has been approved yet, but they were to be acquired by new owners:
,alternative%20rock%20and%20indie%20artists.
I recall Local Radio Lab saying they intended to maintain the present format, although some commenters are speculating on a country flip due to what appears to be faded cowboy boots behind the "big announcement" message-though I highly doubt it-with 88.5 being "Hot New Country," having the two right next to each other would make little sense.
A broadening tweak to a more eclectic AAA-format would be ideal, or a more classic 80's-90's lean would also be excellent.

I'd say those cowboys boots in the background are a MAJOR clue as to what the major announcement is.
We'll see.

As an aside, I just went to look at Indie's website, and it's the same layout as CHCH.com. That's funny.

If it is indeed a format change and country is the most likely option tomorrow would be a great day for Today radio to make a change. They haven’t gained any market share at all. Still one of the bottom stations. May as well flip it.

These are never format changes.
I agree, but I was hoping you'd have more input.
I doubt the morning show is going 100% commercial free. I wonder what it could be.
The last major announcement gave way for part of the morning show to go commercial free.
A better guess might be a new contest or concert ticket announcement. (ie best seats & back seat pass...etc)
I also agree that there's better chance of a format change over @ 93.5 FM...

It's a contest with $10k prizes.

Yeah, but what's funny is what also was said.
"Our studio is falling apart here, everything is broken, but they've got TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS to give away on Fridays...we are working in FILTH so you can be rich..."
Sounds to me like the station was sold "as is" to be the problem of the new owner when they officially take over.

Not if 93.5 Today Radio can beat them to it! lol

A country station will only work if it comes off the CN Tower.

Unless your name is CFMZ, category 3 limitations aside, they have a big signal.

Agree, especially when you consider their repeaters.
