Coming To Play An NHL Game: Bugs Bunny, Batman, Superman and Shaggy

It started with the NFL trying to create a new younger audience, animating a broadcast using new technology that allowed cartoon characters (Spongebob Squarepants as host, in the case of February's Super Bowl) to actually take the place of real football players.

Now the NHL has taken the idea one step further. On April 14th, the game between the Colorado Avalanche and The Vegas Golden Knights will see some familiar animated classic images in place of the actual combatants in real time.

It will "feature Warner Bros. Discovery characters...including Bugs BunnyBatmanSuperman and Wonder Woman, Velma and Shaggy, Steven Universe and Finn the Human. In addition, Looney Tunes character Tasmanian Devil will officiate the game and drop the puck on the afternoon’s action."

The game will air on a U.S. cable station we can't get here, so there's a good chance we won't see it. But it would be a fun to watch a "wascally wabbit" pass the puck. Although I do think having Superman on the ice is a tad unfair. With his super speed and super sight, how would you ever stop him from scoring?

It's part of a promotion for a new video game coming out in late May featuring many of the super heroes.
