The 30 Best Game Shows Of All Time, Ranked

These lists always cause controversy and this one is no different. While I don't disagree with the top three, which are fairly obvious, some of the others have me scratching my head.

The original Hollywood Squares only at #26? That's insane. It was my favourite game show as a kid. Some American-made cable shows most of us have never heard of rank higher. And how did a terrible show like "Press Your Luck" wind up so high in the Top 10?

Anyway, your mileage may vary. If you're game, check them out here

Re: The 30 Best Game Shows Of All Time, Ranked

As a kid growing up, when I was [hack, hack] sick and had to stay home from school, I would watch Concentration, Hollywood Squares, Jeopardy, and if it wasn't on at the same time as my Mom's "Stories" I would get to see Let's Make A Deal, Password and To Tell The Truth.                                                                                                              One thing that will be etched into my mind forever was a question Peter Marshall asked Paul Lynde on Hollywood Squares. After marriage, what replaces sex? Lyndes answer "Your wife" The correct answer was food.

Lynd's answer in the days when stars still had to hide in the closet.

Re: The 30 Best Game Shows Of All Time, Ranked

I think my all time favourite "ad lib" (since they mostly weren't) from the original Hollywood Squares came not from Lynde but Foster Brooks, who often played his "drunken" character on the show.

The question: In the Victor Hugo novel "The Hunchback of Notre Dame," what was the Hunchback's name?

And Brooks said, "Does Quasimodo ring a bell?"

It doesn't get much better than that.
