Dick Biondi at WLS is a bit before my time, then I couldn't pick up him up at 1000 WCFL very well, with 1010 CFRB being too close.

To me, WLS was John Records Landecker... Boogie Check, Boogie Check, Rah, Rah.

JAM Creative Productions began producing jingles/beds in the mid-seventies and well beyond for WLS and a hundred other stations around the world. In 1985 they put out this novelty song mentioning many of those stations, including 1050 CHUM, 570 CHYM, 630 CHED in Edmonton and Montreal's CKGM.

The Dick Biondi era was a bit before my time as well. I didn't get my first transistor radio until Christmas 1965. My WLS time included Larry Lujack/Chuck Buell/Kris Eric Stevens. I never liked the early 1960's top 40 jingles. Too long winded and they seemed to go on forever. I much preferred the Johnny Mann Singer jingles used by the BIG 8 and post August 1968 CHUM. Quick, short then back to the "More Music"

I first heard Dick Biondi on WKBW Buffalo in 1959 or 1960 while visiting my grandmother who lived in Orono (east of Oshawa). He was something else. I never could get KB where I lived at the time, but I could get WLS and heard him again when he was there (9-midnight). Art Roberts, who replaced him, was really tame in comparison. Later on Biondi showed up at WCFL doing the 4-7 PM (Chicago time) show, It came in clear despite being right next door to CFRB on the AM dial. We were about 60 miles west of Toronto. I guess all that makes me old.
