New "Police Squad" Movie Coming In 2025

Leslie Nielsen may be gone, but Lt. Frank Drebin will live on, this time played by another cast-against-type, Liam Neeson. (Interesting conicidence that both sport the initials "LN.") If everything falls into place, the new flick, whatever it's called, should hit theatres sometime next year.

‘Naked Gun’ reboot set for 2025, with Liam Neeson to star

Which reminds me - it only ran for 6 short episodes, but ever wonder if the ABC version of the show is on a streaming service somewhere? Turns out, it is. And better yet, it's free. Someone uploaded all the shows to the Internet Archive and you can find them here.

And don't call me Shirley.

I have seen all six episodes. Did you know Police Squad was a satire of the 1957-60 NBC series M Squad starring Lee Marvin? The theme songs are eerily similar and several of the scripts are almost identical.

It's high time for a remake of "The Mod Squad."

Pound for pound, the television episodes were far funnier than the movies combined.

Agreed. There has never been a TV show quite like Police Squad and we deserved more than just six episodes.

Re: New "Police Squad" Movie Coming In 2025

According to ABC, Police Squad was cancelled after the first four episodes ran in March 1982 because viewers had to pay close attention to the show in order to get much of the humour. The final two episodes aired in July 1982.
