New CBS Sitcom Partially Takes Place In A Radio Station

I don't know much yet about "Poppa's House," an upcoming CBS sitcom that stars Damon Wayans Sr. and his son Damon Wayans Jr. (can't wait to see how they handle that billing.) The elder character is a stuck-in-his-ways radio talk show host who has trouble getting used to changing times, including in his own industry, when they pair him with a liberated female co-host.

It remains to be seen how much of it actually takes place at the station rather than at home. Its debut date is pending, but you should be able to see it sometime next fall. Here's a preview from the U.S. TV Guide:

While it doesn't happen often, radio sometimes plays a role in some TV shows. WKRP In Cincinnati is perhaps the most famous, also a CBS show. Frasier famously took place at KACL-AM in Seattle. And while you almost never saw them actually doing any broadcasting, NewsRadio took place in a fictional New York City station.

And of course, CBC's Son Of A Critch has many scenes that take place at a fictionalized version of a real station - VOCM in St. John's, Newfoundland.
