The list is very American-oriented, but it's hard to argue with any of the 20 moments that kept us glued to our sets with breaking or celebrated stories that unfolded on live TV. There is one very large omission - the day the two planes crashed into the World Trade Center in New York City. That date is now infamous - September 11th.
Not sure which Canadian events I'd shoehorn onto this list. Maybe the terror attack in Ottawa at the Canadian National War Memorial or the night Team Canada beat the Soviets in the 1972 Summit Series.
Any others?

I would eliminate two of these. Dale Earnhartdt death at the Daytona 500. While NASCAR is popular in some parts of the U.S. it is nowhere near as popular as the NFL or March Madness. Those who are not auto racing fans would not have witnessed this and found out about it later that evening on local news. The second one is dealing with Sinead O'Conner on Saturday Night Live ripping up a photo of The Pope. Unless you were a fan of the show, or the artist in question, there is no reason to tune in.
