Just noticed this last minute program change. CBS is airing a one hour tribute to Norman Lear on Friday night. It includes clips from the shows he produced, along with interviews from the people who were in them, including Jimmie Walker and Mackenzie Phillips. Starts at 8 PM.

I'm sure it'll be more watchable than that live episode of "All in the Family" they did a couple of years ago.
It is entirely possible they've been sitting on this "special" for a while, or at least have pieces of it already assembled...much like how newsrooms have obit packages ready to go for anyone of import over a certain age.
EDIT: Watching TV growing up, I must've seen Norman's name on my screen thirty times a week, I'll try to watch this.

I know that some of it will feature clips from an Entertainment Tonight interview done with Lear when he turned 100 last year. I'm guessing that will fill a lot of the time.
