Forty Years Later, A "This Is Spinal Tap" Sequel Is Coming
Director Rob Reiner, who made the original mocumentary "This Is Spinal Tap," has confirmed he's working on a sequel to the beloved flick, due out in 2024. The plot centres on - what else? - a final farewell tour for the faux group, who apparently "hated" the film that made them famous.
Best of all, all the originals are coming back for the movie.

There's a deep well of talent there, but I fear it'll turn out to be a damp squib instead of a Station Nightclub-style blaze.

Production on this sequel is now officially underway. Ready or not, it's coming! And not just with the original cast.
"...it has also been confirmed that the movie will feature cameos from music legends like Elton John, Paul McCartney, Questlove, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood."

Why not? People still shell out ridiculous amounts of money to see geriatric versions of the Stones, Journey, Kansas and many other bands 40 years past their best before dates. Maybe Spinal Tap can skewer the whole genre. It could be very entertaining, in a sad and pathetic kind of way.
