First Area Christmas Radio Flip Is Due On Wed, Nov. 1st In Buffalo

This article from Inside Radio.com is about stations in the U.S. which have already flipped to Christmas music, even before it's officially past Halloween. At the very end of the article, it says this:

Townsquare Media AC WTSS Buffalo, NY (96.1) will make the move on Wednesday, Nov. 1.

A Facebook post read, “Snow showers in the forecast. Mariah is nearly defrosted. Santa’s coming. Christmas music begins Wednesday morning. Halloween comes first.”

And so it begins. (Or should that be "And snow it begins?") Even though it's almost two months away, can CHFI be far behind?

Does a Townsquare station sound any different than an Audicy station when it comes to all Christmas?

They already have the logo up on their website. January can't get here fast enough!

Re: First Area Christmas Radio Flip Is Due On Wed, Nov. 1st In Buffalo

"Which came first, the chicken or the egg?" used to be one of the world's oldest conundrums. But not anymore. Now it's "How soon is too soon for all-Christmas on the radio?" It's a question we see here every year and gets posed again, with by my count at least a dozen radio stations in the U.S. going non-stop-Yule on the day after Halloween, including 96.1 in Buffalo.

The query gets posed again in this linked article and while I find the endless repetition of the same old songs being played non-stop for almost 2 months tiresome even before it starts, I have to admit it seems to work. Those stations that do this always get improved ratings.

So if we have to live with this every year, I like the BBC guy who argues for Dec. 1st, which at least puts it in range of the holiday. The story also lists the all-time best selling Xmas tunes from various sources, but there's no dispute about what's #1: Bing Crosby's White Christmas, which has been either delighting or torturing listeners since 1942.

The great Christmas music debate: How soon is too soon to listen to Christmas music?

While the NEW 96.1 FM in Buffalo is the first to go all Christmas, there is another station in Buffalo bragging about how their second source went all Christmas also.

WECK 2 also went all Christmas November 1st:  https://live365.com/station/BIG-WECK-2--a70729

When 102.5 would flip to all Christmas, the regular format would remain on its HD channel.
