A Former Night Court Original Dies At 80

It was almost overlooked after the high profile passing of Matthew Perry, but one of the original Night Court stars also died this week. Richard Moll played bailiff "Bull" Shannon on the first incarnation of the series, appearing in all but one of the hit show's 193 episodes.

And it turns out he was willing to do anything to get the part, including keeping the shaved head he had sported for a previous movie.

“They said ‘Richard, the shaved head looks good. Will you shave your head for the part?” he recalled in a 2010 interview. “I said, ‘Are you kidding? I’ll shave my legs for the part. I’ll shave my armpits, I don’t care.'”

He was 80.

Re: A Former Night Court Original Dies At 80

I was very sad to hear this. I watched the show and he was probably my favourite. I had hoped Richard Moll would eventually find his way onto the new Night Court (though apparently he had long ruled out any sort of Night Court reunion). It's stunning that of the main cast that was with the series when it ended in 1992, only John Larroquette and Marsha Warfield are still alive.
