Just when you think there couldn't possibly be a new narrow radio format comes this: a station aimed at bricklayers, plumbers, roofers and the like. It's coming out of Great Britain and claims it has a ready made audience that is otherwise ignored.
"Fix Radio says it will provide music, banter and information targeted at bricklayers, plumbers, electricians, plasterers, roofers, painters and decorators whether they work on building sites or in people’s homes...Fix Radio will feature up-tempo well-known songs from the 80s, 90s, 00s and today as well as detailed weather forecasts, sports news and “cheeky banter” from DJs. Programming will be scheduled to fit in with a builder’s day and breaks....
"One thing that came out strongly, for example, was the need for detailed weather forecasts throughout the day as builders depend on knowing what the weather is going to be like to plan their work,” says [founder] Louis Timpany. “The main weather forecasts on Fix Radio every day will, therefore, be very detailed and accurate – almost like the shipping forecast for tradespeople.”

And don't forget "Another Nail in My Heart" by Squeeze.
I was trying to come up with a traffic "log" reference in relation to carpentry, but I'm all tapped out.

speaking of cheeky banter, has anyone else noticed (and this is a question) that when Maureen Holloway was on the Mighty Q she was rather "cheeky" but on CHFI-98 she sounds like the less-cheeky Erin Davis?

The long awaited station "aimed at tradespeople" finally goes on the air on April 26th at 7 AM London time (which is 2 in the morning here, so I doubt a lot of us will be up to hear it - if indeed it's streaming.) They have a countdown clock on their website and not much more - with the exception of a slogan: "We're Nailing It!"
According to a U.K. online article, those behind "Fix Radio," which certainly sounds like a gimmick format, actually appear to have thought this out. They've arranged for the station to be playing in lunch rooms and on catering trucks around the U.K., they plan to be handing out free food at 1,400 construction sites to promote the newcomer, they've purchased a jingle package and they've signed four months worth of advertisers in advance.
There's no immediate word if they'll provide a "listen online" feature, but I'm sure at some point they'll hammer that out.
Let the other puns begins!
And by the way, what in the world are "bacon butties?"
Fix Radio plans free bacon butties for launch

So, to answer my own question, this is a "bacon butty."
