I literally turned my dial to AM740 Zoomer Radio last night just prior to 10 p.m.
Lo and behold I hear a familiar tune. It's Douglas Rankine and the Secrets singing Clear the Track Here Comes Shack.
Now I had this 1966 record as a ten year old & it brought back a nice memory but I thought it a bit odd to hear it just out of the blue as seemed to be the case.
So I checked to see if Eddie Shack had been born or perhaps had passed away on September 4th. Not so in either case. Just a tune included in the regular rotation apparently.
My thanks to whoever placed in the rotation. It got this old timers foot a tappin' for a few minutes

As soon as I saw the post title, I knew it had something to do with Eddie Shack. He was a regular shopper at the grocery store where I am employed. Darryl Sittler is as well.

AM740 plays this song from time to time, it is the only place I’ve heard it in fact, as I didn’t live in Toronto when it originally aired.

Local radio in "hockey" towns incl. CKCR Kitchener-Waterloo and 560 CFOS Owen Sound played it frequently in 1966. It was a "novelty" tune with no redeeming musical characteristics, whatsoever

And let's not forget Johnny Bower's foray into the recording studio. Painful as it was.

Clear The Track got played on the Roger Ashby Oldies Show today ... it was a listener request.
