Looks like 640 is expanding its stable of fill-in hosts. Alex Pierson has a long awaited doctor's appointment on Wednesday and confirmed that newspaper reporter and former mayoral candidate Anthony Furey will be filling in for her.
It makes sense for 640 to expand its stable of guest hosts who are not named Arlene Bynon. Whatever you think of his politics, Furey is articulate, weIl spoken, has appeared on radio many times and certainly knows the issues. I can't help but wonder if this is some kind of audition for a future show on the station.

Fury hired the communications consultantcy shop that Bendixen co-owned and operated during his mayoral run.

Nothing is a coincidence, I suspect.

If Furey gets his own show, he'll follow in John Tory's footsteps and promote himself into the mayor's job, when Toronto voters weary of Chow's shtick in a few years.

Much like the FordBros before him, you could say he was groomed for the position by Bendixen, Oakley, and such ilk.

I suppose 640's attempt to widen their audience base beyond right-wing cranks has ended with the departure of Cupido - and if Jerry Anger is on his way out at 1010, he'll have a home at 640. Maybe Agar and Furey could have a show together? Call it Furious Anger.

Bendixen also hired mayoral candidate Knia Singh, Desmond Cole and Jully Black. He also brought Adwoa Nsiah-Yeboah onto The Roundtable. So politically, he's a busy guy. Oh, and hired Jamil Jivani too, but he spoke on air about his faith in God so clearly for those on the Left this means he is an awful person and an unsuitable candidate for Member of Parliament in Durham.

So good to know. The only thing I heard whenever Jivani would get into his "I'm the only black conservative" shtick:

Jivani is an unsuitable candidate because he lives in Toronto and has absolutely zero knowledge of the issues in Durham. His efforts to become an MP merely reflect his desire to become another trained seal for Pee-pee. Personally, folks in this neck of the woods have had it up to here with people who want to use their position as MP for Durham to advance their personal agendas, rather than providing service to the people of our riding.
