It will be a modern day reimagining of the 50-year-old CBC chestnut, but with a twist - it will be an animated show, which could allow for some of the original characters to return. 

“We look forward to updating the classic series in a way that doesn’t shy away from the real issues we face today, but with humor and heart. The timing is right for another Canadian hit series in the vein of Schitt’s Creek and Corner Gas.” 

It's the second such animated remake of a Canadian classic. "Corner Gas" was also brought back in animated form. While there's no word yet on when or where this new version will air, CBC Gem has a few selected episodes of the original free online.
