TSN will be broadcasting a CFL game (Sask vs Calgary) on their main TSN1 channel up against a MLS game (Toronto vs New England) on their primarily regional Ontario TSN4...both are on live tonight (June 24) in prime time - 7 to 10pm ET...anyone know where I could find the ratings post game?...curious as to the difference in numbers compared to the channels and leagues...I heard MLS has now (or soon will) surpass the NHL as North America's number 4 major league sport?

The NHL has revenues approaching $6 billion. The MLS is around $1 billion.

Until the current TV deals, the overwhelming majority of the NHL's revenue was made at the gate. I'd be interested in the breakdown now.

In the U.S. you have NFL, NBA, NCAA Football, NCAA Basketball, MLB then NHL. I suppose the MLS could theoretically pass the NHL in popularity, but would never crack the top five. Here in Canada, Toronto FC more popular than the Leafs, Raptors and Jays? Not a chance. Argos? Certainly in game attendance. I also can't see the MLS being more popular than the Habs in La Belle Province. Most European football fans do not consider the MLS to be a true professional league.
