Two Days After Massive Bell Cuts, CFRA Workers Join Union

The timing is surely not a coincidence, although it sounds like this may have been coming for a while.

The sounds you hear from the nation's capital are the heads of Steve Madely and Lowell Green collectively exploding.

You know what they say about scabs.

Don't "picket." Or it will never heal.

Madely would be on the staffers' side at this point.

This means about a 1.35% pay reduction (union dues) and it won't stop the cuts

It also means they can respectfully decline the boss's sputtering demand to unclog the toilet. Unless it's in the contract.

The employees in Ottawa have always looked out for their well-being.  They insisted on playing CD's for a lot longer than most other stations.  Even the syndicated weekend countdown shows on the old Kool FM had live ops for years after automation became commonplace.

Collective bargaining is about more than pay rates. It's about respect and dignity for workers.

I've been Union all my life and I don't regret a nickel of the dues I paid. During the first four months of my retirement, I recovered all of it in pension benefits.

After all is said and done, more is usually said than done.
