It was probably the one thing I always heard from listeners who came into the station: "Wow, you guys don't look like I thought you would." That's a common reaction when you only a hear voice and your imagination fills in the rest.
It's not the easiest thing to find on their site, but CityNews 680 has an "Our Team" page that shows you what those people who bring you the news everyday look like. How many live up to what you thought?

Which is what we used to get all the time. It's funny how just the sound of a voice can conjure up a particular face or look in your mind. Ninety-nine percent of the time, it's never what you imagined.

It doesn't even have to be a voice. Reading a novel I always form in my mind a mental picture of a the character. i

It's nice they included the late Mark Dailey, listed simply as "The Voice."

I believe he's still the first recorded voice you hear when you call one of their Toronto stations. Sadly, the only problem with this is they can never change the menus! But he's well remembered there and I was proud to have called him a friend. He truly was a nice guy, not always the case for a high-profile local media personality. It's been a long time but I still miss him a lot.
This was handed out at his funeral, which was a memorable affair with a huge turnout. I will never forget the casket sitting at the front of the church - with the hat he always wore on air perched on top of it. A nice touch and he would have loved it.
