Miss Late Night Show Monologues? Striking Writers Stage Their Own

It's a strike tactic only the Writers' Guild of America could pull off - instituting their own late night talk show monologues about their current job action. These are, after all, the same people who write the jokes for Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert every night - at least, when they're not on the picket lines.

So though they can't write for anything Hollywood, there's nothing to keep them from composing one liners for themselves. And they've put the first "show" up on YouTube, with promises there will be more every week if negotiations don't result in a settlement soon.

It's an intriguing idea that costs them nothing. And frankly, it may be the only monologues we get to see in the next few months as this thing threatens to drag on and on and on.

When I first saw “Miss Late Night Show Monologues,” I thought it had something to do with a
beauty contest. (Bah-Dump-Dumpt)

Sorry.
