Mayor D'Angelo?

https://www.newswire.ca/news-releases/frank-d-angelo-canadian-businessman-to-run-for-mayor-of-toronto-843086788.html

How much support will Frank D'Angelo find on this board for his mayoral campaign?

The genius behind the Ben Johnson “I cheetah all the time” commercial, mind you, the fact that I still remember it says something!

Re: Mayor D'Angelo?

Too many people running.
Both the right and left wing runners need to think things through carefully and have some withdraw (throwing support behind another person running) to best reduce the chances of a split vote.

You might want to mention the ruling was in 2009. Before looking at the date on the article, but first reading the alleged rape happened in 2007, and then reading, "The now 22 year old woman..."

You can imagine my first thought.

Re: Mayor D'Angelo?

So how did the Apple Juice man do? He finished with just 343 votes, or 0.1%. Hope it was worth the money!

He was beaten by a lot of others including 593 ballots cast for Molly the Dog! What a good girl!

A couple of weeks ago, there was a flyer from him in the Scarborough Mirror, and I thought of how much it would have cost to do this considering that he likely did the same in community papers across the city. Obviously didn't result in many votes for him ... I thought at the time that most people probably just tossed it without reading it.

It could easily kill two birds with one stone. An Ad telling people to vote for him, but in the same ad, reminding people how delicious his apple juice is. It's brilliant, even if it doesn't get him elected...at least a large number of people see his ads, and, god willing, his apple juice sales get an excellent boost.

Not even close. The Gong show wound up with 2,983 votes. D'Angelo, as mentioned, got 343 people to vote for him.

Here's hoping Mr. Gong has plenty of help removing the thousands of signs he's erected around the city by June 29.

Re: Mayor D'Angelo?

I did some research on past Toronto municipal elections over the last 55 years. Highest Voter Turnout: 2014 [Tory/D. Ford/Chow-54.67%] Lowest Voter Turnout [1974 David Crombie/"White Supremacist" Don Andrews 27% Highest Vote% [David Crombie 1974 83% Don Andrews 4%. 1976 David Crombie 83% Don Andrews 5%] Most Votes [2000 Mel Lastman 483,272] Largest Margin of Victory [2000 Mel Lastman defeated "Extreme" Environmentalist Tooker Gomberg by 432,166 votes. Smallest Margin of Victory [1980-Art Eggleton defeated John Sewell by 1767 votes]
