Get Ready For CBC's New Slogan: "It's A Canada Thing."
As talk continues to swirl about possibly cutting the CBC's funding, the Corporation is fighting back with a new campaign designed to remind viewers and listeners how vital the broadcaster believes it is to Canadians. Which is why you may soon be seeing and hearing a new promo campaign that uses the tagline "CBC: It's A Canada Thing."
Here's how the ad looks: (Some of the YouTube comments are hilarious, and it appears not everyone thinks CBC IS a Canada Thing.)

This feels really dated to me, like something from the 1990s. I was also somewhat surprised that the CBC went out of house and used an agency, you’d think they would have the creative in-house to come up with such a basic concept/campaign. And I question using footage from shows that no longer air, it is a bit misleading, other than that…..!

These ads and the slogan have been on for a while now. CBC is pushing the multicultural and diversity theme too much in my opinion to the point it seems forced and not natural. However they aren't the only ones. Advertisers and agencies are doing the same thing. A bit too political in my opinion and more reflective of the GTA and not really the rest of Canada.
Showing Canada's multiculturalism and diversity is fine, but it shouldn't be the main theme of your promo for the network. CBC has been doing variations of this theme for years and it is time to do something else.

If this is meant to encourage me to watch more of what CBC has to offer, major fail. Corrie Street, Marketplace and HNIC is all the Mother Corporation broadcasts that is of interest to me.

Here's a few better slogans just off the top of my head.
CBC: STRONG beer and FREE health care.
CBC: There's NORTHing like it.
CBC:Just watch us.
CBC: (radio) in French and English -- aural sects.
That'll be 1.2 million dollars please.
