I'm not sure how long the "Canadian Encyclopedia Online" has been around but I stumbled across it on Thursday and found a slew of very famous and well know broadcasting types that are highlighted in it.
Among them:
Allan Slaight, who nearly became a professional magician:
"He loved to impress friends and family with his sleight-of-hand and mentalist tricks. He started performing when he was eight years old, charging staff at the local bank where his grandfather was the manager $2 to see his show. For a brief moment in his 20s, Slaight considered doing magic for a living. Instead, he made it a lifelong hobby."
Imagine what might have been had his radio career disappeared like a rabbit in a hat.

Other entries:
Duff Roman
Red Robinson
Terry David Mulligan
CHUM Limited
And that's just a few of more than 160 pages under the search parameter of "radio." Nothing groundbreaking here but the photos are interesting and there's enough trivia to keep it interesting.

It's an online and updated version of the Canadian Encyclopedia that Mel Hurtig published in the 1980s.
