From an impeccable source, CTV News Honcho Michael Melling on immediate leave of absnce.
That word just given to staff after 6:00pm Eastern.  Who are they fooling, doing that after 6pm on a Friday night?  CTV keeps stepping in it.

This is now being reported by at least one other source.
The story indicates Richard Gray, who had been a regional news manager, is assuming Melling's duties.
As for the excuse in the memo for the big wig's sudden exit? The article says it's one of the oldest non-reasons in the book. Apparently Melling has suddenly decided he wants to spend more time with his family.  A classic excuse that almost no one will ever believe.

This won't blow over until he's actually terminated...
Did anyone else notice both CP24 and Global News running stories tonight warning companies like Wendys should be careful not to jump on the bandwagon lest it hurt their own corporate image?  Is Bell trying to discourage other companies from keeping alive the Lisa LaFlamme debacle?

I think Winston Churchill said it best after the Battle of El Alamein: "This is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning."

Just checked CTV.ca and nothing there. CBC.ca has it as breaking news.

The public outrage won't be assuaged by a "leave". He's done. What a cock up.

Richard Gray, eh? Interesting. And not in an impressive way.

If the big brains at the top had any smarts, they would bring her back in a very senior, high profile, well paid role. But they won't.

Report said he’s taking time to spend with his family. Never met the man, but do you think his family wants to be with him 24/7? Suspect its a “paid” leave of absence….just sayin’

Is anyone really surprised by this development?  I'm not. Honestly thought it would have happened earlier this week...
After the disastrous staff "town hall" last Thursday, Melling has been essentially  cut out from any of the further communication / imaging of this fuster cluck...   Even as early as last Friday, the blah blah blah memo to staff was from Wade (gray hair himself) Oosterman, and Karine Moses...  no mention of Melling.
I wonder if he is taking delight in destroying his own career?

Perhaps Melling could produce a podcast for Derringer…isn’t that where a lot of losers end up? Podcasting?
On second thought…I doubt that Melling has the skills to produce much of anything.
Never mind.
