Peacock Streaming Service

I recently got an e-mail from them announcing that "Peacock Is Spreading Its Wings Worldwide" Great news for those who live in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy. For other international audiences, a rather terse "Peacock is not yet available in your territory"

Re: Peacock Streaming Service

I thought Peacock was already the home of next day streaming for NBC.  Months ago they were promoting the fact that you could see NBC shows on Peacock the next day.  $1.99 per month is a great price but also this is like the defibrillator to shock the patient back to life.  And if successful, won't it actually really hurt NBC and their already weak prime time US ratings?  Why not just watch the show the next day with no commercials? Looks like they are hoping the international service will be successful.  If not Peacock is toast, since it has been losing billions so far.

Re: Peacock Streaming Service

Here's an interesting question - assume for a moment Canadians had access to every single streaming service in the U.S. Which one(s) would you consider a must have?

I doubt I would be spending a dime on Peacock. It was late to the game and the NBC stuff is available in a lot of other places.

CBS/Paramount Plus doesn't do much for me, either, although I'd probably like to watch the Star Treks.

And then there's Disney+, which is too married to Marvel, Star Wars and superheroes for my taste. Plus, I have a special hate on for Disney. Back in the C-band satellite days, it was the very greedy Disney that kept causing prices to rise, seemingly every few months. They just demanded more and more and more money and, like some cable packages, there was no way to opt out. To add insult to injury, I almost never watched them but had to pay more for them anyway.

I don't like the way Apple does business, so they wouldn't be on my list, either.

My choice would probably be Hulu, Netflix and Amazon. (I know the latter two are already available in Canada, but this is strictly hypothetical.) HBO Max might have been on my list, but with the new owner screwing with all its programming and seemingly ready to make a mess of this once proud brand, I don't trust where it's going and until I know, I wouldn't give them any money.
