CTV Runs A Global Drama

Rookie Blue was a decent police procedural that was on Global from the summer of 2010 until the fall of 2015.  CanWest produced the show which was set in Toronto and focused on five new cops from 15 Division. The show was a little different and had a little more humour and somewhat sexier than most police dramas.

Rookie Blue had good ratings in Canada and was picked up by ABC in the US.  The premier episode on ABC had almost 8 million viewers. The US network ran all 74 episodes to acceptable ratings, usually 4-6 million, and normally during the summer.  In Canada ratings were strong anywhere from 1.2 to 1.9 million during  the summer, or new year.

CHCH in Hamilton has been running the show on Wednesdays, and it has also appeared on CTV2 this past winter into summer.

A bit of surprise that CTV is running an episode tonight.  Don't know if they are planning anymore but it is a bit different for CTV to be running a Global production.  Rookie Blue is also available on various streaming services including Netflix.

Re: CTV Runs A Global Drama

If Corus can make money on that drama without taking up any space on their program schedules, then that's a good thing!

This sort of cross pollination of TV productions is really common in the US and the UK. It's sort of good to see it happening here.

...and Missy Peregrym now stars in the Wolf Production of the very popular FBI show on CBS. High praise for her. BTW she is Canadian - grew up in Montreal.
