Re: The Leafs, RIP

How did you guys and gals watch game 7?
(Other than on the edge of your seat.)

I downloaded the CBC sports app, but it was a pain to use, with dead air and a stock photo to look at during commercial breaks so I bailed and went to YouTube and watched the last half of the game with Steve Dangle on the Sportsnet YT channel (sponsored by Molsons I think)

Can't wait for the post mortem conversations on Monday's radio shows. Like how there were too many unforced errors on the Leafs side, and the refs were MIA, and on and on.

As Charlie Brown once said "Winning isn't everything, but losing isn't anything."

Do the fans just want heads to roll?

As Bugs Bunny once said " Boohoo, always a bridesmaid but never a bride. Boohoo."

Do the players just want a new coach?

Re: The Leafs, RIP

Knowing the more likely outcome, I joined the broadcast with about 5 minutes to go.  Why waste an entire evening...?

Re: The Leafs, RIP

In October 1986,I attended the Leafs media luncheon at the Gardens. While waiting for the event to start, Yolanda and an assistant wheeled Harold Ballard in to the room in his wheelchair, which caused an immediate frenzied scrum surrounding him. As he was swinging his cane at us and yelling to f#@k off, he was asked if the Leafs would win the cup this season, He yelled " I curse this f@#king city, this f@#king city will never see a cup as long as any of my  family are alive " . I dubbed it The Ballard Curse and it has held true to this day. There was at least 5 or 6 other reporters that witnessed this, I am surprised it has never been publicized over the years.

Re: The Leafs, RIP

A genie granted a sports fan one wish.

"I want to live forever."

The genie said that was against the rules, he couldn't grant that wish, ask for something else.

The fan said, "I want to die the day after the Leafs win the Stanley Cup.

After a long pause the genie said, " You crafty bastard."

Re: The Leafs, RIP

The Fan has the Jays. What's left for TSN 1050 to air that's real marquee content until the Leafs return?

Re: The Leafs, RIP

On the bright side, the Leafs must be getting very good at golf by now.

Re: The Leafs, RIP

I watched the game at my local Firkin pub, a convenient four block walk from home. Fastest I have ever seen a bar empty out.

Re: The Leafs, RIP

It's long overdue to kick the Leafs out of the original six.

I started out with nothing and I still have most of it.
