This is more about using radio than working in it, but I couldn't help notice that a new British law states you can be fined for having your car radio on too loud.
If you've ever been stopped at a light with a guy in the other lane who has his bass turned up to 120, you'll know how annoying it can be. It's especially irritating if some a-hole drives by your house with all speakers blasting at 1 in the morning.
The lawmakers explain that having your radio on at full volume means you may not be able to hear a siren on an approaching emergency vehicle and that makes you a danger on the roads. And they argue it also leads to distracted driving. The potential fine for being caught is 100 pounds - or $166 Cdn. Not to mention three points on your licence. And if you get charged with dangerous driving because you're not able to hear, the fine could go as high as $8,300 Cdn.
I don't know if there's a similar law in Ontario, but I do know there are some who would very much like it if there was.
British Highway Code rule could see you fined £5,000 for driving with the radio on too loud

I suppose if you listen to talk radio you would be able to hear emergency vehicle sirens without too much difficulty.
