I reference this here since the show is now running on CHCH. Tim Considine was one of the original sons in My Three Sons and the first to leave the show - replaced by orphan Ernie - and it shows just how long it's been since the program aired on both ABC and CBS.
Considine starred in the Mickey Mouse Club's Hardy Boys segment and The Adventures of Spin and Marty before playing one of Fred MacMurray's kids in the later show. He departed after five years.
A great bit of trivia I never knew comes from the linked article. After Considine left showbiz, he became - amongst other things - a photographer. That's his shot on the cover of what is arguably Joni Mitchell's most famous album, "Blue."
Another familiar face from many childhoods is gone. He was 81.

I only saw the shown in reruns - the rerun package only had the colour seasons as I recalln (though it was only something I'd watch if I was home from school and nothing else was on so I could be wrong). I was surprised to learn years later that William Frawley (Fred Mertz of I Love Lucy) was originally on the show.

William Frawley, the original Fred Mertz, was in the show until 1965, when he had to retire due to declining health. He died a year later. His part was taken by similarly hard-edged-heart-of-gold character actor William Demarest, who played Grandpa Bub's brother, Uncle Charley for the rest of the series.
Personally, my favourite actor on the show was Tramp, the family dog. He never blew his lines and he was always a major presence on set! What a great performance!

@3:29 in:
This was from March of last year,
so it just shows a current photo of Tim Considine and a clip of him as "Mike Douglas"
@4:19 in, he was also known for Patton.
