WDET has officially turned on its new Canadian-made transmitter, after the previous one began to show its age and started interfering with adjacent FM stations.
"By January, WDET's signal was bleeding into the broadcasts of nearby stations on the radio dial. The messages from other stations were basically, "Knock it off!"
WDET's new transmitter goes live. So long, static on Detroit public radio

I am sure there is technical person on the board who can explain signal bleeding to me. I assumed [probably incorrectly] that the stations adjacent to WDET's 101.9 dial position would be affected by their 48,000 watt signal. The only stations close to 101.9 are W268CN at 101.5, CINA Windsor at 102.3 and WDKL Mt. Clemens at 102.7.
