The big difference between Kim's and Schitt's that would result in better pay for Schitt's Creek actors (other than the fact that Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara were already known stars) is that Dan and Eugene Levy own the show and produced it using their production company wheras Ins Choi and the main cast don't own Kim's. That's not a criticism of Choi since he wouldn't have been in a position to start up his own production company and sell the CBC a show. I'm not sure if this speaks to the lack of Asian representation behind the scenes in Canada (and the US) or the benefits of being an up and coming writer/producer who happens to be the child of a well-known actor (not a criticism of Dan Levy - but it goes to show you the difference having connections, particularly family connections, can make).
